2011/2012 COACHES

Jim "Smoki" Richardson- Director, 16 NATIONAL

Jim is one of Texas Select founders and is the Training Director. He has 16 years of coaching experience and a extensive coaching resume. Some of which include being ranked in the Top Ten in the Lone Star Region in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. He has also had five teams qualify for the Texas Championship Series. In 2002, his 15 Molten qualified for Junior Olympics and finished 13the in the nation.That team also won Tampa Bay National Qualifier. In 2001, his 15's team was ranked 6th in Lone Star, and were West Side and Houston Power League Champions. They also finished 5th at the Tampa Bay National Qualifier, 9th Place at Lone Star Qualifier, and ended the season with a record of 115-34 games and 36-8 match play. Jim was the Junior Varsity coach and Varsity Assistant at John Cooper School from 2000-2006. Some of his accomplishments were Junior Varsity District Champs in 2000, 2001, and 2004. In 2004, varsity finished third place in SPC Div. II Tournament, and were Co-Champions in 2001. He is ASEP Certified and an Impact Certified Coach. Jim is married to Sondra and they have two children.

Charvette Brown- Director, 12 NATIONAL

Charvette is entering her 7th season coaching for Texas Select. She has a strong volleyball background, with 15 years playing experience and 9 years of coaching. She is a 1996 graduate of the state winning, 42-0 Cypress Creek High School volleyball team. She played for two years at Southern University-Baton Rouge where she was the team captain for two seasons. She then finished her last two years at Texas Southern University. Some of her accomplishments include four time First -Team All-Conference, Freshman of the year, three time team MVP, and two time conference tournament MVP. She was also ranked number eight in NCAA Division I ranking for kills per game and named the Southern University female athlete of the year. Charvette teaches Physical Education at Westfield High School and is the Head Volleyball Coach. In her first season as head coach she changed the volleyball program around, from a 1-31 record to an impressive 17-16 record. In her three years at Westfield, nine seniors have went on to play volleyball in college. In 2010, Charvette was selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as a scholarship reciepient for the AVCA National Convention. In 2011, she recieved Co-Coach of the Year for District 13-5A. Charvette has a BA in Sociology with a minor in History and is an impact certified coach. Charvette is married to Germaine and they have three daughters.

Matt Bohan- TSVBA Director

Matt Bohan is entering his second year with Texas Select. Matt is a graduate of Huntsville High School where he earned a basketball scholarship to Jacksonville Junior college. After a year in Jacksonville, he earned a spot on the Sam Houston State University basketball team where he played for 3 years. Matt graduated with a degree in elementary education and has worked at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, TX, teaching 5th grade math for 19 years Although his background was in basketball, he has 16 years of volleyball coaching experience at the John Cooper School. While serving as the Girls Varsity Basketball, he began coaching volleyball at the Junior High level in 1993. After 7 years at the Junior High level, he was appointed to the Varsity Volleyball position. In his first year at the reigns, he and Coach Jim Richardson turned a last-place team into a Conference Champion in their first season at the varsity level. Matt coached in the Texas Association Private and Parochial Schools (T.A.P.P.S.) as well as the Southwest Preparatory Conference (S.P.C.). He is an impact certified coach. Matt and his wife Kristy, currently reside in Magnolia and have two children.

Brittany Byrnes- 15 Red

Brittany is entering her first year with Texas Select. She has three years of club coaching experience. In her first season coaching club at Pinellas Heat Elite in Florida, her 14 Elite team captured an American Bid and qualified for Junior Olympics. Last season, Brittany coached for the Developmental and Jr High leagues at The Woodlands Wave. Some of her accomplishments include All-Star team, All Star MVP, Student Athlete of the year and West Conference MVP. Brittany played club ball at Manatee Area Volleyball. Brittany received a volleyball scholarship at Clearwater Christian College but was unable to play due to a torn knee. Brittany attends Lone Star Montgomery and Sam Houston and is getting a degree in Banking and Finance.

Laura Compean- 12 RED

Laura is entering her second year with Texas Select. She is a native Houstonian. She has 12 years of coaching under her belt. She graduated from Eisenhower High School were she played volleyball and softball. Laura's volleyball and softball experiences instilled lifelong lessons that has made her the person she isI today. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University and graduated with a BS, Majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Spanish. Laura is the Varsity Assistant volleyball coach at Westfield High School and teaches Spanish Honors. Laura has three children, Gabriel -22, Mary-18, and Ariana - 9.

Everett Daniels- 16 RED

Everett is entering his first year with Texas Select and were excited to have him. He has eight years of playing experience and two years of coaching., In high school he played for club baja and houston volleyball academy. Everett Daniels is a graduate of Clear Creek High School class of 2005. He participated on the boys varsity track and field and varisty boys volleyball. Everett ran for the mens track team at Lamar University in Beaumont Texas from 2005 to 2007. Where after he transfered to Texas Southern university where is currently seeking his bachelors in elementary education. Everett is also an impact certified coach.

Camille Jamerson- 14 NATIONAL

Jennifer is entering her first year with Texas Select. Jennifer is a graduate of Longview High School where she lettered three years for both Volleyball and Track and Field. She also received many awards such as First Team All District, the All District Outstanding Blocker, and District Champion for High Jump. She continued her education at Butler University on a full Volleyball Scholarship where she studied Media and Marketing. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, she returned to Texas to teach Secondary Mathematics. Jennifer is in her fifth year teaching and second year coaching as a first assistant with Summer Creek HS, then Klein Forest HS.

Lauren Lampe- 14 RED

Lauren is entering her first year with Texas Select. She has over 10 years playing experience in club softball and 8 years of high school and club volleyball. Lauren attended Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas were she was a four time letterwinner in softball and a two time earner in volleyball. Lauren has also worked as the official book keeper for Sam Houston State University’s volleyball team. In her 2 years of coaching, Lauren has been the head coach of a softball team in Garland, Texas and assisted with the JV softball team at Coldspring-Oakhurst High School during her Methods Block. Lauren is in her final semester at Sam Houston and will be student teaching in Conroe ISD at Peet Junior High and Conroe High School. Upon completion of the Fall semester, she will graduate with her teaching degree and hopes to pursue a secondary teaching position where she can coach volleyball and softball. Although from Dallas, Lauren now calls the Houston area home.

Alicia Lewandowski- FLOATER COACH

Alicia is entering her first year with Texas Select. She played club ball for Texas Select for two seasons. Alicia attended Klein Oak High School where she played on the JV team her freshman year and later moved overseas where she continued to play and coach for the high school team. Alicia has just accepted a coaching position at the John Cooper School as the Junior Varsity coach. She is currently in school full time working towards her teaching degree.

Shelley Stout- 15 NATIONAL

Shelley is entering her first year coaching for Texas Select, she has 8 years playing experience and 3 years coaching experience. Shelley graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, TX. Shelley played club volleyball for Texas Select. She also attended Concordia University for three years and played volleyball for two years. She has a BA in Secondary Education with a specialization in math. Shelley is starting her third year at Lutheran High North in Houston where she teaches math and is the head volleyball coach. She is an Impact certified coach. Shelley is recently married to her husband Shane.

Evon Welch- FLOATER COACH

Evon is entering her second season with Texas Select. Evon was a volunteer coach for our Rookies program while she was a senior is high school. She has over 8 years playing experience and two years of coaching. Evon graduated from Westfield High School were she played Varsity Volleyball and Basketball. She played for Texas Select for three years and received a full athletic volleyball scholarship to Southern University Baton Rouge. Evon transferred to the University of St. Thomas were she currently attends school and plays on their volleyball team.
